Introducing RCR: The Breakfast Cereal

Brian Provinciano, creator of the upcoming open world action game Retro City Rampage isn't content with just *any* game merch. Sure, there's already a web store selling everything from RCR t-shirts, to posters, to limited edition vinyl copies of the soundtrack; but that's just not enough. Provinciano wanted something different - something special - for those of us unsatisfied with traditional marketing. His answer? A new, extra sugary, RCR themed breakfast cereal. Announced earlier today, RCR the breakfast cereal promises to bring all of the arcade style action to the most important meal of the day, and includes a copy of the game for the AtaroVision64. Check out the ad below - you can really taste the graphics!

Retro City Rampage will be available this May, for $14.99 (or 1200 Microsoft Points). The PC Version is available for pre-order now here.

Oh, and by the way - as for the breakfast cereal? Production has been halted due to so-called "unsubstantiated health risks."

Retro City Rampage Goes Multi-Console

As promised earlier this month, today saw a big reveal for the upcoming 8 bit styled action parody Retro City Rampage. Originally announced as an XBLA and WiiWare title, it is now going multi-console, with simultaneous releases on the PC, Playstation 3, Playstation Vita, XBLA, and WiiWare. In addition, a series of digital pre-order bonuses were unveiled: namely a 10 track soundtrack sampler, a printable faux NES box and label, a digital game manual, and a 20% off coupon code toward RCR merchandise.

In keeping with what has become the tradition whenever RCR news breaks, a new trailer has been released as well, check it out below:

'Splosion Man To Make a Cameo in Retro City Rampage

Fresh from the show floor at MineCon, comes a big - and surprisingly not MineCraft related announcement. 'Splosion Man is coming to Retro City Rampage! Both 'Splosion Man and Ms. 'Splosion Man will be playable characters and enemies. Today's announcement marks the first of what are presumably many RCR indie crossovers, with more to come before the game's release.

Retro City Rampage will feature over 80 story missions and arcade challenges, and developer Brian Provinciano teases that there will also be numerous "game within a game" segments as well. This self-described open world retro throwback will be available on XBLA and WiiWare early next year.
