Darkspore Preview

In 2008, Maxis came out with the revolutionary game Spore. Maxis did so many things right on their massively single player simulation game. Darkspore is loosely based on the first game, and fans of the original should not expect a similar experience in the sequel.  Darkspore, which is set to release March 29, is a "a fast-paced, sci-fi Action-RPG."

In Darkspore you lead a squad of "living weapons." These creatures were created by the Crogenitors, an advanced race who experimented with DNA. Crogenitor Zelem discovered E-DNA, capable of millennia of evolution in a matter of hours. This E-DNA was unstable and spread rapidly across the galaxy creating the Darkspore. The Darkspore began killing the crogenitors. Eventually all but a few of the Crogenitors are killed. Those remaining few froze the "living weapons" so that they could later defeat the Darkspore.

Valve has announced that a song from the band The National will be featured in their upcoming game Portal 2.

Portal 2 is the sequel to Valve's 2007 award winning physics based puzzler.

Chet Faliszek, a writer at Valve, stated "For Portal 2, we wanted to extend the use of music. When Bug Music mentioned to us that The National might be interested, we jumped at the opportunity to work with them." It will definitely be interesting to hear a song from a well known band in Portal 2.

Portal 2 is slated to be released worldwide the week of April 18 for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, PC and Mac.

Siberia V2 PS3 Headset Unveiled

SteelSeries Siberia V2

Gaming peripheral manufacturer SteelSeries, has recently revealed its brand new headset, the Siberia V2. This set features a retractable microphone, large leather ear cups, and 50 mm drivers. Although primarily designed for the Playstation 3 console, it is also compatible with the PC, Mac, PS3, and Xbox 360. Not only is the headset extremely comfortable and versatile, but it also boasts a helpful new sound feature, dubbed LiveMix. The LiveMix feature allows for the user to change the decibel level of game audio when another player speaks. Such a feature is a welcome addition to Multiplayer matches, when sound often becomes loud and unclear.

This headset features cross-platform versatility and is of the highest quality, both of which should result in strong sales for SteelSeries.
