Giveaway: What Would You Do for a 3DS?

What would you do to win a free Nintendo 3DS? Start coming up with those ideas! To enter - answer that question as with as much creativity and originality as you can. We want to know you want it, because we want to give it! So, what would you do for a shiny new Nintendo 3DS to call your own? Would you do a Mario dance? Dress up as Bowser at your workplace? Write a Zelda sonnet? Tell (or, even better Show) us!

Full details and rules follow after the jump.

One lucky winner will receive a 3DS handheld, a PDP Pull and Go Folio, and a copy of Pilotwings Resort for the 3DS.

first thing i would do is join the mob then i would ask the big boss got any new tech? then when he pulls it out i say hand it over aye i punch the boss in the face grab the Nintendo 3DS and run my ass out of there as fast as i could. while i’m running i would rob a news paper buys delivery bike to make my escape faster then i would ride all the way down to Kyoto japan and randomly give Myamoto a hug.

I would totally dress up as the Mario dude in in the ‘Super Mario Bros. Super Show’ that used to come on the TV. I’d go to all the fast food places with dancing cows, and other mascots and totally start doing ‘The Mario (the dance from the TV show)’ in front of them. After I’ve totally rocked their world Super Mario style, I’d goomba squish each and everyone of the mascots saying in a proud voice “It’s a me, Mario!”

Some pretty entertaining entries so far, but at the same time, nobody has done what they suggested yet…

I can’t stress this enough – don’t just pull something out of thin air with no intent to perform the deed!

Just one quick hint – creativity and originality are two very big factors here. Saying you’ll parkour over NYC, or dress up as Captain Lou Albano in Mario garb is one thing, but actually doing it definitely increases your chances of winning

I would use my super secret Real Life to Video Game Dimension Transfer Technology(tm) to go in Hyrule. I would become Link, defeat the many evils. Find the Master Sword once wielded by many Heros. I would explore the land and defeat the many dungeons, find the Triforce of Courage. Then I would team up with Zelda and her Triforce of Wisdom to Pulverise Ganon and save Hyrule. Before I leave him to rot I would Tea Bag him. Then I would go to the King of Hyrule and ask to marry Zelda. I then marry Zelda and lay the Master Sword to rest and build upon the foundation of an already epic world. Until dire times again rise.

I will videotape myself driving over my DS Phat. Of course, I won’t do it unless I win, so that way I’m not out a DS. If driving over it doesn’t work, I’ll find a baseball bat or some other heavy, club-like object and go to town. All on tape, all for you, all with the rage and anger of a thousand suns. I would start a rumor, that over the last 29 years, every commercial on television that has a clock all display the same time. Alright alright! Let’s get a little backstory up in here! Before the giveaway was announced, there was a post on the Gamesplash facebook showing the 3DS contest page but with blurred text. I made the outrageous claim that the text was blurred because the site was run by Bigfoots. This was neither confirmed nor denied my Gamesplash staff. I decided that means the site HAS to be run by Bigfoots, so I factored them into my plan to break into the GameSplash headquarters and steal the 3DS before you can ever decide who should win it! Muhahaha!

What, you think I’m joking?! I’ll show you how serious I am by creating a short 1920′s style comic showing EXACTLY how I plan to steal the 3DS! I’m that much of an evil genius! My mouse broke right when I started drawing this comic, so I was forced to use that little touchpad that most laptops have. It was slow and grueling. I’m just pointing that out so you know how hard I worked to make it look at least slightly presentable! What you all seem to not be understanding is that we (or at I…as well as I’m sure others), quite frankly don’t care what you say you will/would do.

The point of this is to *do* what you say you’d do…or, at least get creative in the entry. Coming up with some crazy elaborate explanation is easy. Okay, okay. Finally got out of jail after killing that Bigfoot… Instead of spending time with my loved ones, I immediately went to work on my next entry into the contest. It was supposed to be so simple. I was going to build a new next gen console, with the power of the PS3, and whatever the Xbox has that PS3 doesn’t! I was going to give GameSplash the big story before any other websites caught on… But something went horribly wrong. Call it a freak accident, or a crime against God, I personally call it very scary. It all started out so well too. Here is my story, and why I desperately need your help GameSplash!

BEGIN TRANSMISSION

PART 1: The prototype system is completed. All is well. though it does look to be crudely built, I insure you it created some of the most impressive graphics and physics engine ever seen in a game all by itself! But then… It started screaming. It was almost jibberish at first. Just the whirring of the fans. But I knew in the back of my mind I could hear something… “Feed me!” it said! “Feed me… A 3DS!” My God, the system is trying to assimilate the competition! It became more and more violent as time past.

PART 2: I didn’t know what to do! This thing was thrashing about the room screaming “Feed me a 3DS!” There’s no way I could afford a 3DS on a mad scientist’s salary! My thoughts melded together as panic reared its ugly head. I had to keep calm. I had to think! Maybe, just maybe I could trick the beast! I dug through my drawers, looking for my old brick Gameboy. It was a little worse for wear, but an insane system monster surely wouldn’t know the difference! It was painful throwing an old friend to the lions, but it had to be done. I had to keep the world safe from my creation.

PART 3: Success! The beast had quieted it’s roars. No longer did it scream and beg for the blood of the 3DS! Perhaps this would work after all! It unhinged its mechanical jaws and pulled the Gameboy in. The screen blinked on and off, as if it was begging me to save it. I couldn’t, but I wanted to! I’m so sorry old friend. We’ll never catch them all together! But, rest easy knowing that your death will save all of those around you!

It was difficult to take these two images. My hands shook as the poor Gameboy was pulled in. R.O.B looked on in horror from his perch on the shelf. Would he be next? Would we ALL be next? Only time would tell…

Part 4: The PS360 has stopped moving all together. It sits silently in the middle of the room. Perhaps it is digesting its prey? Perhaps it knows it has been fooled? No! That cannot be. it is merely an insane living piece of technology, two mortal enemies crafted together and then brought to life… Why did I ever think this would be a good idea!? Wait, what’s this? A green light appears to be emanating from the system’s bottom half! It must have accepted the Gameboy as if it had actually been a 3DS! Crisis has been averted!

Part 5: Oh God no! No, why! The lights on the system have turned red! It knows it has been tricked! It’s thrashing about the room harder than ever! I can’t let it escape into the world in its current state! No mortal being could understand the damage it’ll cause! It’s spotted me again. It knows it can’t kill me yet. As long as I have the chance of getting it a 3DS I have a chance to live! Please GameSplash.net! I need your help. Perhaps the three dimensional aspect of the 3DS could stop this beast in its very tracks. As I type this plea out to you, my mind begins to unwind. My reality is falling apart around me. All I can hear is the system’s haunting words… “Feed me… A 3DS!” Over and over again.

Thanks for reading those very long, and very troubling transmissions from our science department. With the power of the 3DS, we may actually be able to stop that thing. Until then the bottom three sectors will remain under quarantine. Everyone is trapped inside of course… Anyhoo! I have some questions relating to the contest at hand. I know there’s no sure fire way to know this ahead of time, but what kind of shipping would you be planning to use (economy, first class, two day, yadda yadda blah blah blah) and would there be a tracking number involved? Also I should state no consoles were harmed in the making of this. I bought the PS3 for 50 bucks after someone else broke it (ylod) and managed to mostly fix it. It plays PSN games and all that but it can no longer read discs. Would have been nice if the person I bought it from told me that.

The xbox was a launch model… Just guess what happened to it. It still kind of works some times. But it’s never a sure thing, as you can see from the above posted images.

Under normal circumstances, I would attempt a feat of unimaginable proportions. My first idea was to attempt a world record of continual play on the Virtual Boy. Sadly, upon discussion I decided that I value my eyes far too much. Not to mention that it is unlikely I could only see red after playing. How would I find the system itself, let alone play it if the only color in my vision spectrum happened to be red? Also, I’m not entirely sure that GameSplash would approve of things hazardous to your health.

So what am I willing to do? A lot, but we will start with with a dirty poem inspired by dirty nantucketers. Baby Steps. Baby Steps. It’s sort of a Longshot, but here we go:

There once was a Princess from Hy-rule,
Who’s a victim of Ganon the Cruel
Link comes on Epona the horse
He swings his broken Biggoron sword, of course.
So post-rescue, she denies that fool

Now that I have that out of my system, let’s get to show and tell. My sister and brother-in-law were out of town this last week so I have been babysitting their children. Being the fun-loving relative who lets them get away with a lot, I decided to let the 6 year old dress himself. What does he pull out? Well, he pulled his Halloween costumes out from years gone by. So, being the responsible, voice of reason I dressed him in a forever-classy Mario attire.

The day goes by and 3 PM rolls by and I pick him up. He had a rather sad expression on his face and no longer wearing his costume. I assumed it was getting too hot, so he took it off and just wore the regular clothes from underneath. I asked him how his day went and he was pretty teed off, mentioning that his teacher got on to him and was being mean to him. I assumed he was acting up, been having some issue with jumping around when he’s not supposed to.

Anyway. I get him home and I see this note stickied on his Spiderman Backpack:

So what would I do? Write a poem. Check. Send my nephew to school in Mario clothes. Check. Get both of us in trouble. Check. And NOT tell his parents. Check, well maybe. He’s a tattletale, so I expect his mother to find out. If she doesn’t… well I would tell her that mask day is approaching and set her up. Hey, it’s BOLDUNDERLINE ***NOT*** a mustache or hat!

What else would I do? Just about anything mischievous or funny, maybe a review of a new 3DS title (good or bad title, maybe take a vote, at my expense of course) if my writing is up to GS standards.

I would change everything on my twitter and talk to everyone and tweet as if I was my dog.I’ll even upload a few pics of “me” of ,what my owner is doing and my thoughts on him.

The image uploader wouldn’t work, so I uploaded it to TwitPic. It says, “Pick me, GameSplash.net! I smashed my iPod”. I smashed my iPod because tons of analysts have been saying that the iOS platform (iPod touch, iPhone, iPad) is going to overtake Nintendo and other games companies. So, I decided to stop them in their tracks by destroying mine (and also because i hoped it would convince you to give me that 3DS)! I hope this shows my extreme dedication to Nintendo! Also, another thing I would do is write a detailed in-depth review of the entire 3DS system and/or Pilotwings Resort if you were so gracious as to choose me as the winner!

Oh look, I’m making another post! Since GameSplash is in such a giving mood, I thought I might try my hand at it! Obviously I won’t be able to match something as big as a 3DS, but I might as well add something…

What would I do for a Nintendo 3DS?

If I got my hands on a 3DS that sure would be nice
And because of that I’d pay not twice, but triple the price
I’d swim in a freezing lake where I’m surrounded in nothing but ice
It’d be sad, but yes, I’d giveaway all my rice

If a 3DS was thrown in the air I would catch it like a dog
If a 3DS flew in the air I’d snatch it like a frog
If anything happened to a 3DS I would do anything but sit like a log

I wouldn’t mind going to jail if I can try one out for 3 minutes
Some may call me crazy
But I don’t mind pushing the limit

That’s what I use Facebook for, contests! I figured out about Gamesplash because I was already following them from the last website they ran. A nice little auction website if I recall correctly. I’m always slightly distraught by destroyed technology though. But its their stuff to destroy, so I respect that.

that’s nice and all. but don’t you think you should keep it to yourself? i clicked through some links on the youtube page and found out that the kid is just 7 years old. hopefully his parent(s) don’t show him the comment received from you, because i believe it just might hurt his feelings in some way. or make him regret even doing what he did. seriously, you should keep your negative thoughts to yourself on something like this.

honestly i would do anything for to get this system. i would dress up as link to school. at a talent show i would play and ocarina and all zelda songs known to man ocarina of style. i would walk into target, wal-mart, best-buy wearing a samus aran suit and talking to everyone as if i wasn’t wearing one. i would go to the beach, pier in a mario suit or luigi suit and walking and souding just like them. i will dress as princess peach for a beauty contest. i would get every single nintendo character tatted on my body including gameplash for giving me this 3ds. i would do anything to win a black 3ds. im a huge nintendo fan and i really want to win this console

I would NOT smash any electronics to win a 3DS. I love all my electronics, even when they get old, and out of date. They all still get the love they deserve. I actually love all my electronic devices like they are my babies! I actually have a Commadore64 still out in my garage. These electronics are pieces of history, and labors of love, by those that invented them. So what would I do for a 3DS? I would promise NEVER to smash it once the Nintendo 4DS comes out, and I would promise to love it with all of my heart, and give it the proper care it deserves!

To win a 3DS, I would write an elaborate thesis on how the 3DS could better the world. From the documentation of untouched wonders of nature, to the exhibition of modern marvels of human construction, 3D images could be created and preserved for generations to come. Families on vacation could capture the moments they’re experiencing, and send them to relatives back home to share with them.
